For over 28 years, Dr. Prince Oteng-Boateng has been a therapist, pastor, and teacher with a rich international experience and a solid educational background and training from some of the leading experts in the field of psychology. Dr. Oteng-Boateng is passionate and dedicated to serving clients in a meaningful way, listening to their concerns, and helping them learn how to approach their mental, emotional, and behavioral problems and make personal adjustment to allow them to lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Dr. Oteng-Boateng received his BA (Honors) Degree in Religious Studies and Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, a Master of Divinity Degree from the Asia United Theological University (ACTS), and a Master of Theology Degree in Christian Counselling from Torch University in Seoul, Korea. In addition, Dr. Oteng-Boateng received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Seoul National University. His doctoral dissertation focused on the impact of forgiveness on conflict and marital satisfaction among expatriate couples. After completing seminary training, Dr. Oteng-Boateng served as the senior pastor of the oldest protestant congregation in South Korea, and simultaneously maintained a private practice as a professional clinical counsellor. He also helped to establish the Family Life Center – a marriage and family counselling service for United States service members and their families.
In addition, Dr. Oteng-Boateng has completed a two-year APA accredited Post-Doctoral program following the Houston Model training with specialization in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Fielding Graduate University, under the supervision of the renowned Prof. Arnold Purisch, Board-Certified Neuropsychologist and one of the authors of the Luria Nebraska method of Neuropsychological Assessments.
Dr. Oteng-Boateng completed his Post-Doctoral internship in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Southern California Neuropsychology Group under the supervision of Dr. Michelle Conover. Prior to that he completed his internship in clinical counselling at the Canberra Hospital and the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia. Furthermore, he completed his doctoral residency in counselling psychology at the Calgary Counselling Centre.
Dr. Oteng-Boateng is an Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist and Supervisor with the Canadian Association for Couples and Family Therapists (CACFT), an Approved Clinical Supervisor with the Centre for Credentialing and Education (CCE), an Approved Clinical Supervisor at Yorkville University, a Provisional Psychologist (with specialization in Clinical Neuropsychology) registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists, a Certified Marriage Educator, and a Certified Professional Counselling Supervisor with the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists (PACCP). He is also a Certified Sex Addiction and Trauma Therapist (CSAT) and a Certified Multiple Addictions Therapist (CMAT, through the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). He is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA), the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN), and the International Neuropsychology Society (INS). In addition, he also holds professional membership with a number of international mental health associations.
Over the years, Dr. Oteng-Boateng has helped individuals, couples, and families turn their difficult circumstances around and helped them to overcome their challenges and to become more confident in professional and social settings. His experience of living and training in different countries and working with clients from various ethnic backgrounds and faiths has given him a deep respect for people of all backgrounds and a cultural awareness that is inclusive and caring.
He believes in using a research-oriented and evidence based integrative therapeutic framework that is specialized for the client from an outcome-informed perspective. He holds himself accountable to his clients, measuring progress and collecting patient feedback to ensure the patient reaches their desired outcome or goal.
